TATTOO AFTERCARE

It is the responsibility of the client to make sure the new tattoo work is protected and healed appropriately.  The quality and longevity of a tattoo is accelerated by good healing and protection practices. This will help make your tattoo look as good as possible for as long as possible!

  • ALWAYS wash your hands thoroughly with antibacterial soap before touching your tattoo
  • Remove bandage within 2-3 hours after getting your tattoo. Do not re-bandage.
  • Wash your tattoo with a gentle anti-bacterial liquid soap using warm water. Delicately wash your tattoo with your hand, no washcloth, etc.
  • Gently pat your tattoo dry with a clean cloth or paper towel. Do not rub, or use any cloth with a rough surface.
  • For the first 3-4 days: Apply a SMALL amount of ointment on your tattoo. We recommend InkEeze tattoo ointements, there are a many other ointments that can also be used, Aquafor is widely available. Always use clean hands and do not place your fingers back into the ointment after touching your tattoo. Make sure to apply the ointment sparingly; you want the thinnest amount possible. Remove any excess ointment with a clean cloth or paper towel. Do not use Vaseline, Neosporin, triple antibiotic, petroleum or Bag Balm. Wash, dry and apply ointment 3-4 times daily, or as needed.
  • After day 4-5 your tattoo will begin to peel/flake. This is totally normal! Do not pick or roll the skin. During this time begin using a mild, white, unscented lotion like Lubriderm, free of dyes or perfumes. Use lotion for minimum 2 weeks, 2-4 times daily.
  • DO NOT let anything rub on your new tattoo, bedding, clothing, kids, pets, etc. Wear soft, loose fitting clothing with minimal seams around tattooed area.
  • DO NOT pick, scratch, peel, slap, rub or irritate your tattoo.
  • DO NOT soak your tattoo for at least 2 weeks. No swimming, baths, long showers, soaking or hot tubs.
  • DO NOT expose your tattoo to the sun for at least 3-4 weeks. After that you must use SPF50+ sun block frequently to protect it.
  • DO NOT expose your tattoo to public gym equipment.
